The congregation of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kranzburg hosted many of its own members in a Christmas program held on Sunday, Dec 22. The concert featured members of the parish showcasing their musical talents. Organized by the Grace Band of the church’s Altar Society, a freewill donation was taken for the Haven Center in Watertown.

Brian Ries of Castlewood was the pianist for the concert and Jody Thompson of Goodwin played violin for several numbers, in addition to singing. Other vocalists included LeRoy Mack and Mallory Kohl. A children’s choir sang two songs. Members included: Hannah Kleindl, Marty Mickelson, Lincoln Salzer, Greysen Salzer, Hooley Salzer, Lariatt Kerkvliet and Abe Kerkvliet.
The musicals numbers were woven between biblical readings by Marcy Kohl, leader of the Grace Band. The readings told the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. Father Christopher Hughes, pastoral vicar of Holy Rosary read a poem he had written some time ago, reading in part:
“Men, by sin, had been seduced and darkness loosed
But Christ’s flesh grants mystic sight, and from our heart’s shall cast its light.”
After the event, organizer Marcy Kohl said “It was a great day celebrating the birth of Jesus and having our parish talent perform.”
