Pancakes were flipping and sausage was sizzling at the Ace Brandt Diesel Center on the campus of Lake Area Technical College on Tuesday morning, Oct. 29. The fundraising event benefitted long-time LATC instructor Terry Beynon, who is undergoing medical treatment. Beynon is currently a member of the Diesel Department, although he also has taught in other areas at LATC.
Scores of people attended the event, including both LATC students and staff, as well as community members. Students in the Diesel Department assisted both with the cooking and directing traffic.

Diesel Department supervisor Corey Mushitz thanked the community for the support.
“We’ve had a great turn-out,” he said. “We’ve had a lot of people from the community. There’s been people from outside the community than have come. We’ve had a tremendous number of students that have come from other departments,” he said. “It’s just kind of wonderful to see.”
Mushitz also praised Beynon himself saying, “he has been very influential in the Diesel Department. He’s very well-rounded. He’s one of the most-organized people you’ll even be around in your life.” Muschitz also called Beynon “invaluable to the department.”
