The city of Watertown has introduced #WatertownWorks, a new series highlighting the incredible employees who work tirelessly to keep the city running smoothly. Twice a month, the city will feature stories showcasing various employees. With over 250 full-time employees serving across multiple departments, the city wants to highlight the people that work behind the scenes and introduce them to the public.
Kicking off our #WatertownWorks series is Gary Langerock, the EMS Chief for Watertown Fire Rescue. Gary has been with the City of Watertown for an impressive 24 years.
- Profssionally: As EMS Chief, Gary plays a vital role in the smooth operation of Watertown Fire Rescue. He oversees the compliance program, conducts internal audits, ensures adherence to state and federal regulations, reviews patient care reports, and maintains EMS training records. After 24 years, Gary still values the sense of community among city employees. “Watertown has the perks of a larger city with the closeness of a small town. The camaraderie makes working here enjoyable.”
- One of Gary’s proudest accomplishments is contributing to the positive changes within the City and Fire Rescue. “It’s rewarding to see how far we’ve come and to know I played a part in that growth.”
- Personally: Gary loves to travel the country and spend time on his farm. If he could have any superpower, it’d be the ability to fly—so he could avoid airports! Gary and his wife enjoy many local restaurants and find it hard to pick just one favorite.
- Fun fact? Gary’s a self-proclaimed “neat freak” who genuinely enjoys cleaning.
