With the holiday season quickly approaching, area food pantries are running low and looking to be re-stocked.

With that in mind, a group of Watertown Cub Scouts spent a Saturday earlier this month collecting food and money to help. Cub Scouts from Pack 2 from Mellette Elementary School, Pack 293 from Lincoln Elementary School and Pack 319 from Jefferson Elementary School set up tents at Hy-Vee and County Fair for a “Fill the Tent” Food Drive.

By the end of the day, the Scouts filled a 7-foot by 12-foot trailer with food, and also collected cash from individuals as well as from local businesses Terex and Sioux Valley Co-op.

All donations through the Scouting for Food program will go to local organizations.
