Dear County Agent Guy: Preserving history is a difficult job

This December 13, 1945, issue of the Southern Daily Echo was acquired by Jerry’s father, Leonard, while he was assisting with the transport of U.S. servicemen from Southampton, England, to New York following the end of World War II. The oblong object at right is a round from the 20-millimeter antiaircraft cannon that Leonard operated while serving aboard the battleship USS Washington.
