Eight arrested for drug crimes in two separate incidents

Eight individuals were arrested in two separate incidents within a 12-hour period in Watertown on Friday, Oct. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 4.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., Watertown Police, assisted the South Dakota Department of Criminal Investigation, made contact with four individuals in downtown Watertown. Searches resulted in the seizure of approximately 22 grams of cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, amphetamine pills, and drug paraphernalia. A search warrant was executed at Beck’s residence in northwest Watertown at approximately 8:30 p.m.

All four individuals were arrested on drug charges and booked into the Codington County Detention Center.

  •  Dalton Dampier (31, Raymond, S,D,): Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Resisting Arrest.
  • Daniel Beck (39, Watertown): Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Maintaining a Place Where Drugs are Kept or Sold, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • Kadance Kretzschmar (22, Watertown): Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
  • Nicholas Thiel (23, Watertown): Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Bond was set at $10,000 cash for Dampier, Beck, and Kretzschmar, and $2,000 cash for Thiel.

Just a few hours later, early on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 4, a routine traffic stop by WPD, uncovered six grams of methamphetamine in two separate bags, along with multiple syringes. Following the traffic stop, officers searched a residence in northwest Watertown. Inside, officers located two digital scales, one of which contained meth residue.

  • Vickie Gartside (70, Watertown,): Possession of a Controlled Substance, Maintaining a Place Where Drugs are Kept, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • Piper Greenough (22, Watertown): Ingestion of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Driving Without Headlights.
  • Mark Moore (40, Watertown): Ingestion of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • Eugene Olson (33, Watertown): Ingestion of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Watertown Police said the two incidents not related.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
