Watertown Fire Rescue crews made quick work of dousing a camper fire on Monday, June 9, behind Woody’s Sports Bar on West Highway 212.
Shortly before 9 p.m. on Monday, the reporting party said there were visible flames coming out of the roof of the camper. Once on scene, WFR found a 1970s 5th-wheel camper parked in a storage lot, with flames coming from the roof and rear of the camper.
The camper was parked about 15 feet from a large storage building, but at the time of arrival the flames were not threatening the building. Fire crews knocked down of the fire within 5 minutes of arrival and made a search of the camper for any victims. The search of the camper found no victims.
Crews then ensured there were no hot spots and the fire was out and used thermal imaging cameras to assess the building near the camper fire and found no fire, smoke, or odor in the building.
Crews were on the scene for about an hour. WFR was assisted on scene by Watertown Police Department.
