Freddie Huber, 89, of Sisseton
Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with burial to follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery.
Freddie Charles Huber was born December 28, 1935, in Tolstoy, SD to Fred & Madeline (George) Huber. In 1942, his family moved to Sisseton, SD, where they purchased a grocery store. Freddie attended St. Peter’s Catholic School through the 8th grade, and then moved out to the family farm, where he made himself at home in a grainery and looked after the livestock. In 1957, Freddie married Rosalie Grajczyk, and five children were born of this union. In 1959, he moved his family to California, where he found work with McDonnell Douglas. Shortly thereafter, he moved back to SD, hiring on as a ranch hand in Sturgis. But soon he was called back to Sisseton to assist on the family farm. Throughout the years he worked a dairy operation & raised cattle, sheep, and hogs. Horses were always a part of the scenery, as horses were his passion. In 1978, he quit the dairy operation, and he went into carpentry with his cousin Pat Cordie and then Steiner Construction.. Upon retirement, Freddie enjoyed a very serene life on the farm, where he kept himself busy with woodworking, birdwatching, reading, and listening to old country & bluegrass. He loved aiding his cousin Phil George with family history and his puzzle night with Sandra every week. He also loved his visits with his children, grandchildren, Virgil & Roger George, daily visits from Tony Lohre and when relatives, friends and neighbors stopped by. On December 18th, Freddie was given the ugly news of a cancer diagnosis and was peacefully taken from this world 18 days later, attended by his loving family and a very compassionate & helpful hospice team.
Freddie is survived by his children, Cathy White (Curt), Connie Randolph, Rick Huber (Janelle), Sandra Evitt (Randy) and Chris Huber, along with 30 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, two sisters Nita Clemens and Peggy Lowery of Arvada, CO; brother-in-law David Grajczyk (Ruthie), sisters-in-law Louise, Clarice & Linda Grajczyk, and many nieces, nephews & cousins.
