Due to the Native American Day holiday, the City of Watertown Solid Waste Division of the Public Works Department will not be collecting on Monday, October 14.
Residents who normally have their trash waste collected on Mondays will have their collection moved to Friday, October 11. Please make sure your containers are curbside by Thursday evening.
The City of Watertown also is urging residents to help reduce costly damage to composting equipment by ensuring that only proper materials are placed in green yard waste containers. Recently, items like rocks, lumber, plastic items, garden hoses, and other waste has been improperly disposed of in yard waste bins.
These materials not only cause damage to the city’s equipment but also negatively impact the quality of the compost we produce.
Yard waste bins are intended solely for grass clippings, leaves, biodegradable yard waste bags, and small garden vegetation. We ask all residents to check their bins before setting them out for pickup. If non-yard waste items or branches are found, the bin will not be emptied.
Keeping our yard waste free from contamination will help reduce repair costs and avoid service disruptions. Protecting composting equipment is a shared responsibility, and the city needs your help.
