Gov. Noem honors Prairie Lakes Wellness Center

The facility received the 2024 Governor's Award as Outstanding Public Employer during a ceremony Tuesday at the State Capitol.

Prairie Lakes Wellness Center was honored Tuesday by South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem as the 2024 Outstanding Public Employer during a ceremony at the Capitol Rotunda in the State Capitol Building.

During the Governor’s Awards ceremony, individuals with disabilities, businesses and other South Dakotans were honored for their contributions toward ensuring those with disabilities have equal opportunities for employment.

Other Governor’s Award recipients were Justin Minnaert, Madison, Outstanding Individual with a Disability; Michael Svatos, Mitchell, Outstanding Employee with a Disability; Dakota Fluid Power, Rapid City, Outstanding Small Private Employer; Compass One Healthcare, Rapid City, Outstanding Large Private Employer; Cherie Hill, Onida, Outstanding Transition Services; and Arlene Poncelet, Ft. Pierre, Distinguished Service.

The Governor’s Awards ceremony was sponsored by the South Dakota Department of Human Services, the South Dakota Board of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Board of Service to the Blind and Visually Impaired, and the Statewide Independent Living Council.

The 2024 Governor’s Award winners were announced earlier this month.
