Watertown High School was placed on lockdown for about 30-35 minutes on Friday, Aug. 22, 2025.
Shortly after 9 a.m. this morning, the Watertown Police Department received a call stating there was a weapon in a bathroom at the high school. WPD notified the school district, who initiated lockdown procedures at both the high school and Northeast Technical High School. WPD and high school administration searched the indicated area to ensure there was no weapon according to a press release from the school district.
Due to the nature of the call, it is believed to be a hoax said the press release. An investigation is underway to find the source of the call. Upon the completion of the search, Watertown High School resumed normal operations. The lockdown occurred within the first block of the day, so schedules were not interrupted.
The open house at the Allen Mitchell Athletic Complex and the “Meet the Arrows” scrimmage games for football and volleyball are still scheduled for Friday evening.
