Irene was born on February 23, 1935, to Reverend Stephen Spider and Elaine LaBelle Spider in rural Wilmot, SD. Irene attended Wahpeton Boarding School from 6th to 8th grade and later graduated from Flandreau Indian School in 1953.

In 1956, Irene married Nathan Wilson, later divorcing. In 1983, she married the love of her life, Clarence Langdeaux. Together, they made their home in Watertown, where they became the cornerstone of their family. Irene was widowed in 2003.

Irene’s pride and joy were her nine children: Dawn Wilson, Jo Ann (Jeff) Bachmann, Glenn (Bonita) Wilson, Audrey Lawrence, Brenda Wilson, Diana (Scott) Starcevich, Yvonne Ulbricht, Valerie Wilson, and Brian (Brandy) Wilson.

She was also a devoted and involved grandmother to 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her daughter, Brenda Lee; her parents; stepmother, Ethel Spider; siblings; and other loved ones. She also cherished her long-time four-legged companion, Reno.

A service to celebrate Irene’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Ascension Presbyterian Church in Big Coulee, followed by burial at Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Summit, SD.
