Knights of Columbus free throw shooters win titles

Nine free throw shooters won titles at the Knights of Columbus District Basketball Free Throw Shooting Championships Sunday, Feb. 16, in Watertown. Nine champions were crowned at the 2025 Knights of Columbus District Basketball Free Throw Championships held Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Watertown Middle School.

The competition featured both boys and girls age 9 through 14.

All District winners will now be submitted to the state level.  The top six scorers in the state will then compete in the State Championships to be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, March 2, in the National Guard Armory, Chamberlain.

Here are the age-group winners from the District Championships.

BOYS

Age 9: Jackson Hendricks, Milbank, 15 of 25 shots made.

Age 10: Rudy Stutzman, Watertown, 22 of 25 shots made.

Age 11: Austin Vavruska, Watertown, 24 of 25 shots made.

Age 12: Trajin Shindelbower, Sisseton, 14 of 25 shots made.

Age 13: Trig Heinrich, Watertown, 19 of 25 shots made.

Age 14: Landon Halling, Watertown, 15 of 25 shots made.

GIRLS

Age 9: Shyla Allery, Agency Village, 9 of 25 shots made.

Age 10: Cora Brown, Florence, 21 of 25 shots made.

Age 11: Hallie Stevenson, Lake Norden, 22 of 25 shots made.

Age 12: No participants.

Age 13: No participants.

Age 14: No participants.
