Funeral service for Michael Curtis Thennis, 42, of Waubay, South Dakota will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the Enemy Swim District Center, Enemy Swim, SD with Fr. Charles Chan, Fr. Conrad Ciesel and St. James Episcopal Lay Readers officiating. Breakfast will be served from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. There will be a Wake Service on Wednesday, September 18th starting at 7:00 P.M. and Thursday, September 19th an All-Night Wake starting at 7:00 P.M. at the Enemy Swim District Center. Pallbearers will be Seth Thennis, John Thennis, Mason Bissonette, BJ Rockwood, Casey O’Riley and Adam Phillips. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alex Groves, Garrett Iyarpeya, Donna O’Riley, and All Michael’s nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. Burial will be at the St. James Episcopal Cemetery, Waubay, South Dakota. Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Michael “Mikey” was born on November 28, 1981, at Sisseton, SD to Ronald James Fayant and Connie Faye Thennis. He lived with Donna O’Riley from three until he was seventeen. He attended Waubay High School. During his lifetime he lived in Watertown, Waubay, and Sioux Falls. He did construction of grain bins and was a laborer. He was a member of St. James Enemy Swim Church. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, taking long walks. His favorite sports team was the Green Bay Packers. Michael passed away on September 13, 2024, at his home in Waubay, SD.

Michael is survived by 5 children Seth Thennis of Sioux Falls, SD, Christian Thennis of Sioux Falls, SD, Isaiah Thennis of Mitchel, SD, Curtis Thennis of Sioux Falls, SD, and Jazmine Clark of Brookings, SD; sisters Amy High Bear of Sioux Falls, SD and Raine Whipple of Niobrara, NE; brothers Chris Thennis of Fort Thompson, SD, John Thennis of Watertown, SD, Theo Thennis of Belle Fourche, SD, and Chris Rondell of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren Bradan Hoffard of Tea, SD, Brynlee Schiebe of Sioux Falls, SD, Paisely Reynolds of Missouri; godmother Evelyn Eagle of Waubay, SD; aunts Barbara Iyarpeya of Enemy Swim, SD, and Roxanne Hislaw; uncles, Rod Fayant of Watertown, SD, Wilfred Fayant Jr. of Enemy Swim, SD, Gary and Martha Lovejoy of TX.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents Ronald Fayant and Connie Thennis; brother Ronald Jack Thennis; and sister Sheridan Blue Dog; Paternal Grandparents, Wilfred Fayant Sr., and Roberta Fayant; Maternal Grandparents Arlis and Hilda Thennis.
