Names have been released in a fatal accident that occurred on Friday, December 26, near Arlington.
Preliminary crash information indicates 62-year-old Peter Juergen Ritschel of Faribault, Minn., the driver of a 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris, was traveling east on U.S. Highway 14 near mile marker 399 and crossed the center line, colliding head-on with a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, driven by 37-year-old Lauren Hser of Huron, in the westbound lane.
Ritschel died at the scene. Hser sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
