The Watertown Police Department is accepting applications until May 22 to be part of the annual Teen Police Academy.

Youth ages 13 to 17 (or entering eighth grade) can learn what it’s like to be a police officer during the three-day event scheduled for June 8-10 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. each day.

There is no cost to attend, and the academy is limited to 20 participants.

The hands-on program gives teens a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement, including crime scene investigation, patrol operations, DUI and distracted driving enforcement, SWAT and tactical response, and detective work.

Participants will get real, interactive experiences with the tools, training, and teamwork it takes to serve and protect our community.

The WPD calls the academy “an incredible opportunity to build confidence, learn new skills, and connect with local officers in a fun and engaging environment.”

Registrations are being taken now at watertownpd.com. For any questions, call 605-882-6210.
