It will cost you more to visit one of South Dakota’s 63 state parks and recreation areas beginning Dec. 15, 2024.

The changes are part of the game, Fish & Parks Department’s ongoing commitment to keep South Dakota State Parks welcoming, well-maintained, and ready for visitors all year long, according to a press release from the state.

“As we adjust our fees, our goal is to create a balanced budget that allows us to maintain and improve our facilities while keeping fees fair for everyone,” the release said. “Our state parks are known for their natural beauty and variety of amenities, attracting millions of visitors each year.
