The community of South Shore will be celebrating its 125th anniversary with a variety of events from Friday, June 12, through Sunday, June 14.
Although the townsite of South Shore has existed since the 1880’s, it did not officially incorporate until December of 1901.
Friday, June 12, will feature music in the evening, as well as the Punished Woman’s Lake pageant.
A full day of activities on Saturday, June 13, begins with a one-mile walk/run. A parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. A variety of activities will be held on Main Street as well as the ballpark, and food vendors will be available. Music with Dorene Foster will be at 4 p.m., with a recognition of veterans. Local band Urbandale Lane will perform at 8 p.m.
Memorabilia will be available for purchase at the community center and the former school building.
The weekend closes with a special service at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and a pancake breakfast at the South Shore Community Center.
