Brandon Heim, Sales Manager, The Watertown Current

As The Current embarks on our first holiday season, thanks must be given. Thank you to the over 1,000 individuals who supported the truth with your paid subscription. Thank you to Codington County and the City of Watertown and all our neighboring communities and schools. I hope we have done you all justice.

Again, our thanks to our startup sponsors, Office Peeps, the Watertown Community Foundation, Turbak Law, Prairie Lakes Healthcare System, Lake Area Technical College, the Watertown Chamber of Commerce, Reliabank, the Goss Opera House, and Professional Hearing Services.

Thank you also to the dozens of other businesses and individuals who have supported our endeavor through paid advertising. In most cases, these have been small businesses taking a chance on us. Please support them as you are able. We would not be able to tell your story without their backing.

Of course, the main goal of the Watertown Current is to inform the citizens of Codington County. However, a close secondary goal is to build community—a community that is educated and united. A community that is real.

Real America is downtown. It is the shops and parks. It can also be found in the malls and in Watertown’s own “Magic Mile” of local stores. It is not behind a keyboard and screen, whether that screen is on Amazon or warrior keyboarding. Nor it is some far-off corporation reporting on “Waterville.” It is funeral ladies, diners and grocery stores. It is joys and sorrows. Real America is community; a community built on local business.

Support Real America. Shop Small. Shop Local.

Happy Thanksgiving. Happy Small Business Saturday.
