The Torchlighters 4-H Club of Codington County brought Christmas cheer and warmth to Jenkins Living Center.
The Club donated gifts specifically for residents without local family.
The “gifts of comfort” included lap blankets and slippers, donated by club members, as well as handmade cards. Club members made the cards and assembled the packages at their recent Christmas party. On December 17, high school members delivered them to Jenkins.
Leader Cassie Fischer said that while the club typically does a service project or donation during the holidays, this is the first year for this specific donation. She said the idea came from a brainstorming session with other parents who wanted to serve an underrepresented population during the holiday season.
