Turtles and spirals and splashes, oh my! If you’ve been meaning to check out the sculptures featured in this year’s Watertown Artwalk, there’s no better time than autumn. The majority of the artwork is located in downtown Watertown, with other sculptures located at Lake Area Technical College, Redlin Art Center and Meyer Insurance on Willow Creek Drive. The sculpture’s title, artist’s name and sponsor’s name are posted on each pedestal. Watertown Artwalk brochures are available at the Watertown Area Community Foundation Office (211 E Kemp) and at several downtown businesses.

Arts Night, held the second Thursday of each month at Dempsey’s at the Airport, begins at 5 p.m. with time to meet the artist and an art talk at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Congratulation to the Goss Opera House, Redlin Art Center and Watertown Artwalk as they were recently highlighted in the film, “Power of Possibility: The Impact of Public Art in South Dakota Communities.” The one-hour documentary clearly shows how much the Watertown community values public art!
