Watertown Fire Rescue responded to an incident at Lake Area Technical College on Tuesday afternoon, April 14, at 2 p.m. to reports of smoke.
When crews arrived, they were directed to the main 100 building. There, they identified a light haze and a noticeable smoke smell around one classroom. After investigation, crews determined the most likely source of the issue was a rooftop air handling unit.
Crews had to shut down several air handling units to isolate the problem.
Personnel remained on scene for about one and a half hours while assessing and resolving the issue. Once the AC system was reset and conditions returned to normal, LATC administrators issued the all-clear, and students and staff to safely return to the building.
