Watertown infant found unconscious, not breathing

The 4-month-old child was taken to Prairie Lakes Healthcare, then airlifted to Sioux Falls.

A 4-month old Watertown child was airlifted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls Wednesday morning after being found unconscious and not breathing.

The Watertown Police Department and Watertown Fire Rescue were called to the 2000 block of Fourth Avenue SW after receiving a 911 call.

When officers and paramedics arrived at the scene, they immediately initiated life-saving measures. The child was taken to Prairie Lakes Hospital for initial treatment and was later flown by helicopter to Sioux Falls for further care.

At this time, the child’s condition remains unknown, according to police.
