Watertown Shamrocks hockey team names president

Ryan Bisgard was the team's director of operations before being elevated to her new position. The junior hockey team is in its inaugural season and has its home opener this weekend.

Ryan Bisgard is the new president of the Watertown Shamrocks hockey team.

The Watertown Shamrocks hockey team has named a team president, and they didn’t have to look far to find one.

Ryan Bisgard, who was serving as the operations manager for the Shamrocks, has been named Shamrocks president.

“Ryan jumped right into her role as operations manager and immediately exceeded expectations,” Vince Foley, a team owner said. “Her vision for this team and the work she’s already doing affirmed she was an obvious choice for president.”

Bisgard is originally from Denver, Colo. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Bisgard played NCAA DIII Women’s Ice Hockey for the Monarchs.

“I am beyond grateful to have been given the opportunity to help build the foundations of our Shamrocks organization,” Bisgard said. “The faith that ownership and the team have placed in me is something that I do not take lightly. It is my goal to have our off-ice team succeed just as much as our on-ice team.”

Joining Bisgard in the Shamrocks front office are Anne Hanson, executive vice president; and Jenni Wirkus, billet coordinator.

The Shamrocks, in their first year of existence, play in the North American Hockey League.  The NAHL is the only USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier II Junior league and features 35 teams in 20 states across North America.

The Shamrocks home opener is set to take place this weekend, Sept. 20 and 21, against the Bismarck Bobcats. Tickets can be purchased at watertownshamrocks.com.
