A 53-year-old Watertown woman was injured in a vehicle accident Wednesday morning in northeast Watertown.

On January 8, just after 9 a.m., the Watertown Police Department and Watertown Fire Rescue responded to the crash at the intersection of 10th Avenue and 23rd Street NE.

A white 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup, driven by a 25-year-old Watertown male, was driving east on 10th Avenue and a pearl 2013 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by a 53-year-old Watertown female, was driving south on 23rd Street. The vehicles entered the intersection at approximately the same time and the front of the Ram collided with the front passenger corner of the Traverse.

The Traverse then left the road and hit a sign for a nearby apartment complex. There are no stoplights or stop signs at that intersection.

Watertown Fire Rescue responded, and driver of the Traverse was taken by ambulance to Prairie Lakes Healthcare with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup was medically evaluated on scene with no major injuries reported.

Both vehicles had significant, disabling damage and were towed from the scene.

The female driver of the Traverse was cited for Failure to Yield at Uncontrolled Intersection and Failure to Use Seat Belt.

The Watertown Police Department was assisted on scene by Watertown Fire Rescue.

The Watertown Police Department reminds drivers to wear their seatbelts, slow down to 15 mph at uncontrolled intersections that have visual obstructions, and yield the right-of-way to any vehicle approaching from the right when two vehicles arrive at approximately the same time.
