Memorial Service for Zachary Louis Ortley, 32 of Peever, SD will be on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Lake Traverse District Center, Sisseton, South Dakota. Pastor Jerome Renville will be officiating. Drum Group will be Noisy Bear. The Pallbearers were Jarrod Mousseau, Garrett White, Luke Lawrence, Thomas Fayant, Chris Feather, Chance Adams, Andrew Shepherd, Prosper Thunderhawk, Nicholas Schaller, Mike White, Kenneth Ortley Jr., and Jeremy Mousseau. Honorary Pallbearers are Cali Ortley, Elexis Sanchez, Nina Sanchez, Willow White, Danielle Ortley, Silas Ortley, Darren Colhoff, Maurice Redday II, Trenton Richotte, Moses Renville, Jarrod Mousseau, Silas Mousseau, Leeland Mousseau, James Mousseau, Amber Carvel, Gabby Renville, and Eric Ortley, Summer and Misty Ortley, and Dakota Magic Surveillance. Interment was at the Sisseton Wahpeton Tribal Burial Grounds, Sisseton, SD. Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Zachary Louis Ortley was born on January 23, 1992, in Redding, California to Silas and Twyla (Mousseau) Ortley. They lived in California and moved to South Dakota when he was 8 years old to the Peever area. He attended school at Sisseton and Tiospa Zina Tribal School. Then went on to Sisseton Wahpeton College. Zachary worked in Surveillance at the Dakota Magic Casino. He was a member of the Eagles Wing Baptist Church. He had a passion for older low rider cars. He especially enjoyed helping his family and friends whenever needed. He was always there for people and enjoyed visiting with people and cherished looking after his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Zachary passed away at his home on January 10, 2025.
He is survived by his father Silas Ortley of Peever, SD; brothers Jarred Mousseau of Watertown, SD and Jeremy Mousseau of Peever, SD; sister Danielle (Garrette White) Ortley of Browns Valley, MN; 4 grandchildren Aria Bursheim, Ryder Lawrence, Mateo Lawrence, and Aysia Shepherd of Watertown, SD; aunts and uncles Gary Ortley, Edmond Two Stars, Marty Hawkins, Linda Baker, Beverly Kirk, Myrna Wilder, and Van Hawkins.
He is preceded in death by his mother Twyla Ortley; sister Desirea Ortley; brother Jeremy Ortley Sr.; brothers-in-law Michael LaCroix and William Peck; aunt Diane Mousseau; uncles Robert Mousseau and Ken Ortley Sr.
